Planning for the Oceanfront is led by the District of Squamish and its consulting team. We see community members, stakeholders, and landowners as critical members of the team working together.

Consulting Team

  • Planning and Project Lead - HB Lanarc Consultants - Planners specializing in sustainable community planning and design, as well as community and stakeholder engagement. HB Lanarc leads the planning process under District direction and runs the process day-to-day, coordinating technical work and ensuring good engagement with the community.
    Senior staff are:
    • Peter Whitelaw - Project Manager

    • Vince Verlaan - Engagement, Facilitation
  • Communications - Hoggan & Associates - Communicators specializing in sustainability, Hoggan's role is to help the team communicate clearly with the public to enhance our community engagement efforts. Senior staff are:

Peninsula Landowners Collaborative (PLC)

The PLC is a working group of the Oceanfront landowners who will participate in the overall planning process as a critical group:

Community
Community members and stakeholder groups provide essential input and feedback to the Planning Team throughout the process.

District Council
District Council will approve a final plan at the end of the process. Along the way, they will regularly be updated and will give the Planning Team direction about the process and the plan itself.
